SEAMO is happy to welcome eight new physicians in four different Departments in August and September.

Dr. Ainsley Alexander joins the Department of Psychiatry in September after completing his schooling at McMaster University and Queen’s University, where he got his MD. He is interested in mood disorders and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

Dr. Lagu Androga joined the Department of Medicine, Division of Nephrology in August after completing his medical studies at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City and a three-year Nephrology fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. His clinical and research interests are in glomerulonephritis and healthcare delivery.

Dr. Ryan Brooks joins the Department of Medicine, Division of General Internal Medicine in September after completing his postgraduate training at the University of Toronto. 

Dr. Joshua Durbin joins the Department of Medicine, Division of Cardiology in September. He finished his medical training and postgraduate training both at Queen’s University. He was previously a locum in the Department.

Dr. Julius Ebinu joined the Department of Surgery, Division of Neurosurgery in August from UC Davis Medical Center in California. He completed training at the University of Calgary and the University of Toronto. Dr. Ebinu received his Board certification in Neurosurgery and is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and the American Association of Neurological Surgeons.

Dr. Sarah Funnell joins the Department of Family Medicine in September and also holds the title of inaugural Associate Dean, Indigenous Health and Chair, Indigenous Health for a five-year term. She comes to Queen’s from Ottawa’s Centretown Community Health Centre and was previously the Associate Medical Officer of Health for Ottawa Public Health.

Dr. Yuliya Knyahnytska joins the Department of Psychiatry in September after serving as a staff psychiatrist and clinician scientist at CAMH in Toronto. She completed her education at the University of Toronto and in Kingston will be working at Providence Care Hospital where she will be working in the Interventional Psychiatry Program.

Dr. Daniela Volochniouk joins the Department of Psychiatry in September from Cornwall Community hospital where she was a staff psychiatrist. She completed her residency at Queen’s University. 

Dr. Diane Whitney joins the Department of Psychiatry in September from the Northern Ontario School of Medicine where she was named Assistant Dean, Resident Affairs. She completed her schooling at the University of Toronto and Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry. Her clinical expertise is in mood disorders, trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder.
