We welcomed four new physicians in March 2026!

We’re excited to introduce the newest members of our community. These physicians began their roles in March, and we’re pleased to welcome them to SEAMO.

Dr. Jessica Blom joins the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She completed her MD and PhD at Western University, followed by residency training at Queen’s University and a fellowship in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery at the University of Toronto. Dr. Blom brings expertise in advanced gynecologic procedures, with interests in endometriosis, uterine fibroids, and quality improvement in surgical care.

Dr. Samuel Johnson has joined SEAMO in a Surgery Hospitalist role within the Department of Surgery. We’re delighted to welcome him to the team as part of our February cohort of new physicians.

Dr. Christine Li has joined SEAMO in the Department of Surgery in a General Surgery role. We’re pleased to welcome her to the clinical community following her February start.

As the world turns its attention to the Olympic Games once again, the stories that resonate most are often not just about podium finishes, but about perseverance, perspective, and passion passed from one generation to the next.

For SEAMO physician Dr. Martin ten Hove, the Olympic spirit is not a fleeting moment over four years. It is a thread that runs through his life, his career, and his family.

Dr. ten Hove represented Canada in sailing at the 1984 Olympic Games, an experience that remains vivid decades later.

SEAMO Clinician Scientist Dr. Neil Renwick Receives Provincial Innovation Fund Award

Project: Optimizing cancer care delivery through maximally informative molecular diagnostics

SEAMO is celebrating a major milestone with the announcement that Dr. Neil Renwick has been selected by the Innovation Fund Provincial Oversight Committee to receive a 2025 Innovation Fund Award in the Cancer category. This marks the first time a SEAMO project has been recognized at the provincial level, and it highlights the depth of impact our clinician scientists bring to patient care and discovery.

Dr. Marek Gruca joins the Department of Medicine in the Division of Hospitalist Medicine. He earned his MD from St. George’s University and completed his Internal Medicine residency at SUNY Upstate Medical University. Prior to joining Queen’s, Dr. Gruca served as a hospitalist and Vice-Chair of Medicine at Carilion Clinic in Virginia.
